Part 5 - Bipolar disorder

After exhausting research I realized I was bi-polar. Those who suffer from this disorder tend to alternate heavy bouts of depression with periods of mania. the depressive phases are characterized by much sadness and desperation when one often thinks of suicide, whereas the manic periods are exactly the opposite (from this the term "bipolar"), that is particularly euphoric moods up to the point of committing impulsive and damaging actions. In this work I express this altrernation. My self-portrait being divided in two: One part using a multitude of colour to express the various differing states of mind experienced the illness. The other part of the self-portrait uses grey tints symbolizing an ever present awkwardness.
